Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim made it clear that Malaysia will not support or pursue any potential pardon for fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, widely known as Jho Low. Anwar described the matter as a complete “non issue" for Putrajaya, clarifying that any decision on a pardon application rests entirely with the United States authorities.

The statement from the Prime Minister came in response to recent media reports suggesting that Jho Low had submitted an official pardon application within the United States legal system. Anwar emphasized that the Malaysian government has no intention of intervening or taking that specific legal route to assist the fugitive financier.

While Malaysia will not formally launch an opposition to the move, the administration reiterated that it remains a strictly American domestic judicial business. Jho Low remains a heavily wanted central figure globally for his primary involvement in the multi billion dollar 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) financial scandal.
