The Perak Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) confirmed that four more bodies have been successfully recovered today following a tragic migrant boat capsizing incident off Pulau Pangkor. The latest discoveries bring the official death toll from the maritime disaster to 16 victims so far.
Search and rescue vessels found three male victims floating roughly 2.5 nautical miles southwest of Pulau Buloh. A fourth body, whose legal identity has not yet been established by local forensics, was spotted further out at approximately 21.4 nautical miles southwest of Pulau Sangga Kechil.
Following these latest discoveries, maritime authorities now strongly believe that up to 39 passengers were packed onto the vessel when it originally sank. The updated headcount has raised intense fears that more victims remain missing at sea, prompting emergency teams to extend their search grid.
