The Kangar Sessions Court today officially acquitted and discharged the son of a former Perlis Menteri Besar from several criminal charges related to the submission of fraudulent financial claims. The high-profile judicial decision marks the conclusion of a complex legal battle that had drawn significant political attention across the northern state.

The initial prosecution had alleged that the accused was involved in submitting false claims amounting to over RM19,000 to government agencies for work that was allegedly never fully completed. However, after a comprehensive review of the evidence and witness testimonies presented throughout the trial, the presiding judge ruled that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case.

The unexpected legal breakthrough brings immense relief to the former state leader's family and his legal defense team, who had consistently maintained his total innocence from the start. Government prosecutors are currently evaluating the written judgment to determine whether to file an official appeal against the acquittal in the High Court over the coming weeks.
