Prasarana Malaysia Berhad has officially announced that commuter train and bus lines across Kuala Lumpur will soon accept contactless credit cards, debit cards, and digital wallets. The public transport operator confirmed that the technical project is currently in its final award stage. This massive infrastructure shift aims to eliminate the hassle of purchasing physical single journey tokens or tracking down misplaced Touch 'n Go cards before entering fare gates.

Once fully deployed, commuters can seamlessly tap their smart devices, smartphones, or physical bank cards to pass through gates at all LRT, MRT, Monorail, and BRT stations. The integration will also extend directly to urban bus routes, introducing popular cashless layers like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay into daily transit networks. This payment upgrade modernizes Klang Valley's transit framework to align with global ticketing standards.

While a firm public launch date has not been locked in, the transition marks an aggressive effort to digitize local transit infrastructure. The system expansion is expected to heavily reduce peak hour congestion at station ticketing booths and physical kiosks. Transport planners note that widening open payment accessibility will make the city's public transport options significantly friendlier for international tourists and daily local commuters alike.
