Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar responded strongly to criticism online after some users questioned her for continuing to share moments from her daughter Avantika’s wedding celebrations following the death of filmmaker-actor K Bhagyaraj.

The actor had recently posted photographs from the wedding festivities in Goa, including a candid picture with husband and filmmaker Sundar C. However, the post drew criticism from a section of social media users, with one person asking whether it was appropriate to share celebratory images while Tamil Nadu was grieving Bhagyaraj’s demise.

Khushbu did not let the comment pass. Replying directly to the user, she questioned why someone would continue following her only to criticise her and pointed out that her daughter’s wedding had taken place less than two days earlier. Referring to Bhagyaraj’s family, she also said she shared a close relationship with his wife, actor Poornima Bhagyaraj, and implied that outsiders were in no position to judge her response to the situation.

“If you find it difficult, stop following me. I am better off without people like you. I have all the right to be happy,” she wrote.

Avantika, the elder daughter of Khushbu and Sundar C, married Shravan Sreenivasan in Goa on Thursday evening in the presence of family members and film personalities. The ceremony saw several well-known names in attendance, including Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Venkatesh, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Trisha Krishnan and Amala Akkineni.

The conversation online gained traction as videos and photographs from the celebrations continued to circulate around the same time that tributes poured in for Bhagyaraj.
