Geely has unveiled a revolutionary electric vehicle (EV) battery designed to last up to 50 years or around 3500 charging cycles, enabling nearly 1 million kilometers of travel. Known as the Aegis Short Blade Battery, it also charges to 80% capacity in just 17 minutes.
The Aegis Short Blade Battery uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology. It only loses 10% of its performance in bad weather, while older batteries can lose up to 20%. The Galaxy E5 is the first car to have this new battery.
If Geely's promises are accurate, they solve the issue of EV batteries lasting only 10-15 years. Replacing batteries is expensive and causes problems with disposal, including environmental risks and fire hazards if not handled properly. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly.
