The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) has confiscated nine sacks of bird’s nests, totaling 196 kg and valued at RM1.57 million, from the Free Trade Zone Ground Team Red (GTR) warehouse at KLIA Terminal 1.

Norlela Ismail, principal assistant director of Central Zone Customs, reported that the seizure took place on July 31 at approximately 6:15 p.m.

The bird’s nests, which were imported from a neighboring country, were brought in without a valid import permit.

In a statement today, Norlela Ismail noted that the syndicate had falsely labeled the nests as transshipment cargo bound for other countries after previous interceptions by authorities.
