Meta-owned WhatsApp is testing a new security feature that allows users to block messages from unknown accounts. This feature, observed in the latest Android beta version of the app, is part of the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.17.24 update.

According to WABetaInfo, the option is found in the Advanced settings menu alongside features like 'Protect IP address in calls' and 'Disable link previews.'

When activated, this new feature will automatically block messages from unknown accounts if they surpass a certain volume. It aims to safeguard users from unwanted or potentially harmful messages and enhance device performance by reducing spam.

Since the feature is still in beta, there is a strong likelihood that it will be included in the full version of WhatsApp soon.
