Each year, Apple unveils a new iPhone but typically keeps details about RAM and battery life a secret. This year, however, the company has made some notable changes to both. Thanks to @iSWUpdates and insights from MacRumors, we’ve learned that the iPhone 16 models will come with a significant upgrade: 8GB of RAM. This increase is primarily designed to support the new Apple Intelligence features, which explains why the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, with their 6GB of RAM, won’t receive these enhancements.
In addition, MacRumors has reported an improvement in battery life for all iPhone 16 models. While specific figures aren’t provided, users can expect at least an extra hour of video playback compared to their predecessors, with streaming time extending by 2-4 hours. For reference, the battery capacities of the iPhone 15 series were 3,349mAh for the standard model, 4,383mAh for the Plus, 3,274mAh for the Pro, and 4,422mAh for the Pro Max. Given the extended usage times, it’s likely the iPhone 16 models will feature larger batteries, though the improvement might also be due to the more efficient A18 and A18 Pro chipsets.
We will provide further details on the exact battery capacities of the iPhone 16 series as soon as they are available. Pre-orders for the iPhone 16 will begin at 8 PM on September 13, with the official launch set for September 20, 2024.
