The Malaysian Army confirmed that one of its personnel, identified as 29-year-old Petrus Linggi Liman, was fatally shot during a training exercise in Sarawak’s Song district early this morning. The incident occurred around 2:45 am when the platoon, part of the 9th Brigade, heard a gunshot after a motorcycle passed near their resting area.
Following an immediate inspection, the injured soldier was found and given first aid before being taken to Song Health Clinic and later to Kapit Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:43 am. Police are currently tracking down the unidentified suspect.
Funeral arrangements are pending the autopsy, and the victim's family has been notified. The army urged the public to refrain from sharing any information or photos related to the case out of respect for the ongoing investigation and the family.
