LAHAD DATU, Oct 25 — The Wildlife Department has shot and killed three crocodiles posing threats to people and livestock in the area.
Two crocodiles were eliminated in Kampung Tabanak on Tuesday after being identified as a risk to villagers. Wildlife officer Hairulnizam Hasnan @ Magiol reported that one measured 13 feet (3.96 meters) and the other 5.56 feet (1.69 meters). Both were shot at 8:15 PM and subsequently buried.
Hairulnizam urged residents to remain vigilant near coastal areas and adhere to warning signs. He encouraged the public to report any crocodile sightings threatening safety by calling local wildlife offices.
Additionally, the largest crocodile in the district, measuring 4.42 meters, was shot after it was linked to cattle attacks in the Felda Sahabat plantation. Wildlife rangers acted following a farmer's report of a cow being attacked on October 18. The crocodile was found in a creek and was disposed of to safeguard both people and livestock.
