Loh Fights Perlis Govt’s Federal Court Review Bid on Children’s Conversion Case
Loh’s lawyer, A. Srimurugan, confirmed that an affidavit opposing the Perlis government’s review application was filed today.
On October 30, the Perlis government sought a review from the Federal Court to overturn its earlier ruling, which denied leave for appeal requests from the state government and three other parties. They argue that the initial decision compromised their right to be heard and are requesting a rehearing.
The original appeal, dismissed on May 14, blocked the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs), the State Registrar of Converts, and Perlis Mufti Datuk Dr. Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin from challenging the Court of Appeal’s January 10 decision, which voided Loh’s children’s conversion to Islam, declaring them as Hindus.
In 2023, Loh’s judicial review application to nullify her children's conversion was dismissed by the High Court.
