BALING: A man was killed while his daughter was injured following a collision with a pickup truck carrying three policemen at Gunung Inas, Jalan Baling-Pengkalan Hulu, here today.
According to Buletin TV3, the deceased has been identified as Shafiron Mohd Zaid, 40, from Sungai Petani, who succumbed to severe head and body injuries. His daughter, Asiah Shafiron, aged 2, sustained injuries to her body.
The three policemen involved are from the D5 Branch, Criminal Investigation Division (BSJD) of the Pengkalan Hulu District Police Headquarters (IPD), Perak, and sustained injuries to their bodies, chest, and legs.
It is understood that the three policemen, aged between 22 and 45, had just completed a task and were on their way to carry out a welfare visit in Baling.
Baling District police chief, Superintendent Azmi Mokhtar, said the Baling IPD traffic inquiry office was informed by the public of the accident involving two vehicles at the scene at 2.30pm today.
He said that initial investigations at the scene revealed that the pickup truck, carrying the three policemen, was travelling from Pengkalan Hulu towards Baling, while a Proton Waja car carrying the father and daughter was coming from the opposite direction, from Sungai Petani towards Pengkalan Hulu.
