GEORGE TOWN: The husband of the woman who was stabbed to death in Air Itam on Thursday, is saddened by false allegations against the deceased.

Mohamad Shazwan Hafizi Badrul Kamal, in his 30s, said Siti Zulaila was his wife.

"She is my wife and I am her legitimate husband.

"It saddens me when people falsely accused her of being a widow," he said last night after the burial of his wife and father-in-law, Zulkifli Ibrahim, 62, at the Tanah Perkuburan Islam Kariah Tanjung Tokong here last night.

According to Mohamad Shazwan Hafizi, the accusation that his deceased wife is a widow is completely false.

"It is already painful enough to lose my wife in such a tragic incident, and then to have such baseless accusations on top of that has deeply affected us as a family," he added.

Meanwhile, Mohamad Shazwan Hafizi expressed hope that the suspect would face legal action for what he did to his wife and father-in-law.

"To the perpetrator (the suspect), I hope the authorities will take legal action against him," he said.

Late last night, the remains of the father and daughter were buried after the completion of the post-mortem process at 7.20pm.

The bodies were taken to Masjid Tuan Guru in Tanjung Tokong for prayers before being buried at Tanah Perkuburan Islam Kariah Tanjung Tokong at 9.30pm.

Both father and daughter were buried in one grave.

Around 300 people, including family members and friends were present to perform prayers.

The father and daughter were stabbed to death by a 32-year-old man below their apartment on Thursday.

Speculation is rife that the suspect had sought to pursue the mother of three, but she rejected his advances. An argument then ensued.

When her father tried to break up the fight, the suspect stabbed both the father and daughter to death before turning the knife on himself.
