PUTATAN, Nov 20 — Police are urging witnesses to come forward to assist in the investigation of a fatal train accident earlier today, where a woman was struck while crossing the tracks with her son.

Penampang District police chief Supt Sammy Newton said 41-year-old Lena Gabun and her 11-year-old son were hit by the train on the Putatan to Kota Kinabalu route. Lena was dragged for 50 meters and was later sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for an autopsy, while her son received treatment at the same facility.

Authorities also cautioned the public against sharing the incident video on social media out of respect for the family and urged people to avoid crossing train tracks at unauthorized locations to prevent further accidents.
