Khushboo Regrets Acting in Rajinikanth's Annathe: "I Wish I Had Known"

Actress Khushboo expressed regret over her role in Rajinikanth’s Annathe, saying she wouldn't have acted in the film had she known how things would turn out. Released in 2021, Annathe received mixed reviews, with Khushboo playing a prominent role in the early parts of the film alongside Meena, before both characters were sidelined after the interval.

Khushboo explained that when director Siruthai Siva pitched the story, she was told she and Meena would have significant roles, while Rajinikanth wouldn't have a female lead. However, during shooting, Nayanthara was brought in as Rajini’s leading lady, and the film’s focus shifted. Khushboo’s character, along with Meena’s, was reduced to a smaller presence, which left fans questioning their purpose in the story.

Despite her extensive work with Rajinikanth in classics like Annamalai and Mannan, Khushboo’s comments reflect disappointment in how Annathe turned out, particularly with her role being diminished.
