Transport Ministry Developing System to Combat Overloaded Trucks and Improve Road Safety
The Transport Ministry is developing a new system to tackle overloaded heavy vehicles, with completion expected early next year. The High Speed-Weigh in Motion (HS-WIM) system will allow real-time enforcement without the need for trucks to stop for weighing.
The ministry stated that the system will improve enforcement efficiency, reduce road damage, and lower accident risks. Overloaded vehicles are a significant cause of road wear, and the Road Transport Department (JPJ) continually assesses strategies to address this issue.
