Helicopters Deployed to Deliver Aid to Cut-Off Kelantan Flood Relief Centres"
PASIR MAS, Nov 30 — To assist nine temporary relief centres (PPS) cut off by floods in Kelantan, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is using helicopters to deliver food and necessities.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat confirmed that seven affected PPS are located in Pengkalan Kubur, Tumpat, as well as in Lubuk Jong and Rantau Panjang. Helicopter deliveries will continue based on the needs of the centres, with additional support from the fire department's air unit if necessary.
The first PDRM helicopter arrived yesterday, along with heavy vehicles from the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF). The helicopter has already been used to transport patients and deliver food supplies. This morning, another elderly person was airlifted to the hospital, and more food deliveries were made to Lubuk Jong.
Mohd Yusoff added that vehicles capable of carrying five to seven tonnes will also be on standby to assist with transporting Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates starting Monday, Dec 2.
