Five River of Life Projects Scrapped After RM4B Spend, Says FT Ministry

The Federal Territories Ministry has scrapped five of the 12 River of Life (RoL) projects in the Klang Valley after reviewing their significance. The projects, still in the pre-execution phase, were deemed "not significant enough" to meet the initiative's objectives. The remaining seven will proceed with the aim of cleaning and beautifying rivers, said Minister Dr. Zaliha Mustafa in a reply to Parliament.

Launched to transform the Gombak and Klang rivers into vibrant, high-value waterfronts, the RoL initiative has already spent RM3.915 billion, or 89.7% of its budget. Despite this, the project is far from completion, with the Auditor-General's report in July highlighting delays.
