KUCHING, Dec 10 — A pedestrian in his 30s was killed in a suspected hit-and-run accident at Jalan Setia Raja around 4.30am yesterday.
Kuching district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah confirmed that the victim was struck by an unidentified vehicle, with both the vehicle type and registration number still unknown.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer from Sarawak General Hospital at 4.45am.
The incident is under investigation for reckless or dangerous driving under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which could lead to imprisonment of 5 to 10 years and a fine between RM20,000 and RM50,000.

ACP Mohd Farhan also reminded road users to drive cautiously and follow traffic regulations to ensure everyone’s safety.
