SINGAPORE — A 42-year-old man faces charges for the murder of a 34-year-old woman at a hardware store in Singapore, as reported today by Channel News Asia (CNA).

The defendant, Du Zaixing, is claimed to have resulted in the death of Dao Thi Hong at a ground-floor apartment of Block 210 on Hougang Street 21 at approximately 11:05 a.m. on Tuesday.

The charge sheets, as reported by CNA, did not identify the reason behind Dao’s death.

Du participated in the court session through a video connection from his detention location and listened to the proceedings with the help of a Mandarin interpreter.

CNA also stated that the Chinese national will be held for a week, with authorization for him to be taken out for additional inquiries.

The court was informed by the police prosecutor that Du needs to be physically present for site visits and evidence collection. The court approved this request and set the next hearing for the case on 19 December.

On Tuesday, three individuals, including the victim and a 26-year-old male, were admitted to the hospital with stab injuries. Dao subsequently passed away in the hospital.
