BALIK PULAU — A 47-year-old food rider, Mohd Nasir Othman, was fined RM1,800 or face a month in jail after pleading guilty to possessing a fake firearm. He had purchased the imitation rifle online via TikTok for play with his son, unaware it was illegal. The incident occurred on January 6 at his home in Bayan Lepas. His lawyer argued that the rifle, which shoots water-based gel bullets, was not intended for harm.

In a separate case, Mohd Nasir and his wife, Norhafizah Mohd Zamberi, were also charged with possession of ketum water at their home on the same day. They both pleaded guilty. The court set a bail of RM16,000 for Mohd Nasir and RM8,000 for Norhafizah, with a chemist report due on March 12.
