The war in Gaza, which has caused immense devastation, has led to the destruction of 170,000 buildings, leaving nearly 70% of the region’s structures damaged or destroyed. As of January 2025, at least 46,788 Palestinians have lost their lives in the ongoing conflict. Gaza’s infrastructure has been severely impacted, with almost 68% of its roads and 68% of its farmland damaged. In addition, nearly 90% of schools and more than 80% of mosques have been hit. Hospitals, already under strain, have been repeatedly targeted, with half of them out of service. Reconstruction is expected to cost up to US$50 billion and could take as long as 15 years.
