SUNGAI BESAR: Police have solved the 'mystery' behind an incident involving a man wrapped like a mummy, who was seen roaming around Sungai Besar town in a clip that went viral on social media.

This follows the arrest of a 25-year-old man, believed to be the person in the viral clip, in Parit 6 here today.

Sabak Bernam police chief Superintendent Robin Guha Thakurta said the arrest followed the viral video, which surfaced around 10am.

"Investigations showed that the man is suffering from a mental health disorder and has been taken to Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Hospital (HTAJ) in Sabak Bernam for treatment," Robin said in a statement.

He added that the suspect was accompanied by his family members throughout the incident."

Robin advised the public, especially social media users, to report such incidents to the police rather than posting them as content on social media, as this could cause alarm and disrupt public order.

It was reported that sightings of the man wrapped like a mummy sparked curiosity among local residents and road users today.

It is understood that the fully wrapped individual walked approximately 6km from Panchang Bedena to Sungai Besar town.

A Facebook user shared a post featuring images and videos of this peculiar sight, quickly capturing the attention of netizens and going viral.
