JAKARTA: Muslims in Indonesia will celebrate Aidilfitri on Monday, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar announced tonight.
At a press conference held at the ministry, he confirmed that 1 Syawal 1446 Hijri will fall on March 31, 2025.
The announcement followed the conclusion of the Isbat conference (the meeting to determine the date of Syawal), which involved ministry officials, the Indonesian Ulema Council, astronomers, and members of the Indonesian House of Representatives, as well as representatives from embassies in Indonesia.
Also present was the Religious Attache at the Malaysian Embassy, Mohd Shamsuri Ghazali.
"Tonight, Tarawih prayers will still be performed across Indonesia. We hope that as a result of this meeting, all Muslims in Indonesia can joyfully celebrate Aidilfitri," he said.
Muslims in the republic began fasting on March 1.
