A 44-year-old lorry driver tragically died after his tar-laden vehicle skidded and overturned on a steep bend at Jalan Tun Sardon, Kampung Pondok Upih, Balik Pulau, late last night. The driver was thrown and trapped in the cabin behind his seat. Firefighters from the Penang Fire and Rescue Department took over two hours to stabilize and extricate him using special equipment. The accident occurred near the JTS Viewing Point around 10:22 p.m.
