A Japanese Air Self-Defence Force T-4 training plane with two crew members crashed near Lake Iruka shortly after taking off from Komaki Air Base on Wednesday afternoon. Defence Minister Gen Nakatani reported the incident, stating the cause is unknown and search operations are underway. Aircraft debris and an oil slick have been spotted on the lake. Local authorities reported no damage to nearby homes.
