BACHOK: A spa owner injured after being splashed with acid last night has safely undergone a six-hour surgery.

Her 33-year-old husband, who only wanted to be known as Wan, said the surgery was performed from 10am until 4pm today.

He added that his 27-year-old wife underwent the operation at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Specialist Hospital in Kubang Kerian.

"I waited for six hours, and thank God, my wife has completed the surgery.

"She is stable but remains unconscious due to the effects of anaesthesia," he said when contacted today.

Wan said he could not share further details about his wife's injuries as he has yet to receive a full report on her condition.

He also said that when he collected his wife after the incident, he noticed acid burns and injuries on her back and shoulder.

It was reported that the incident happened when the victim was alone at her salon around 7.20pm when she was allegedly assaulted by two women and a man.

It was also reported that police have identified four fingerprints believed to belong to the suspect involved in the acid attack.

District police chief Superintendent Mohamad Ismail Jamaluddin had said the fingerprints were recovered from the spa.
