JOHOR BAHRU — PKR’s 2024/2025 National Congress begins today in Johor Baru, spotlighting a major leadership election featuring a high-profile clash between Rafizi Ramli and Nurul Izzah Anwar for the Deputy President post.
Over 32,000 party members are voting physically and online to elect new leaders for the Central, Youth (AMK), and Women’s wings. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim retains the presidency unopposed.
The vote, featuring 251 candidates across all wings, is being held at multiple venues in Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak, with online voting via the ADIL app.
Other key races include Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek versus Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail for Women’s Chief, and a single contender, Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, vying for AMK chief.
Results are expected as early as tonight or by tomorrow afternoon. Anwar will officially open the congress at 9.25pm.
