A federal judge in Boston has extended a block on President Trump’s effort to revoke Harvard University's ability to enroll international students, siding with the school in a key legal battle. The judge plans to issue a preliminary injunction, saying Harvard and its students deserve protection while the dispute plays out.
The Trump administration had attempted to immediately revoke the university's certification, accusing it of fostering antisemitism and links to China—claims Harvard denies. Homeland Security has since backtracked slightly, offering Harvard 30 days to respond, but the judge found a court order still necessary.
Over a quarter of Harvard’s students are international, and the university argues this move is part of a broader political attack on academic freedom. The ruling is a major win for Harvard, which also faces other federal challenges under the Trump administration.
