KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has confiscated RM32 million worth of luxury assets from a Tan Sri linked to false claims and misuse of loan bonds tied to a Klang Valley highway project.

During raids on two of his properties, MACC seized nine luxury cars including Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, and Range Rover models worth nearly RM7 million. Also taken were 217 high-end watches (RM5 million), 27 designer handbags (over RM1 million), jewellery (RM4 million), and a luxury liquor collection (RM3 million). A luxury condo worth RM12 million was also seized.

These items are believed to be linked to money laundering. The case is being investigated under the MACC Act 2009 and AMLA 2001.

Earlier reports revealed four suspects, including a Datuk Seri, were arrested for allegedly submitting RM360 million in false claims between 2016 and 2017 for a RM1.3 billion highway project. Investigations began on May 9, with more assets and cash already seized.
