A family picnic near Pulau Mentigi turned tragic when siblings Nur Awatif, 15, and Ahmad Uwais, 13, drowned after being swept away by strong currents while swimming. The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency launched a rescue operation after the pair went missing. Nur Awatif’s body was found around 4:30pm by villagers, and her brother was discovered by divers two hours later. Their bodies were brought to Pulau Tinggi and handed over to marine police for further action.
