Professionals, firms used to hide money trail in highway project, says MACC

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has uncovered that the misappropriation of sukuk funds meant for the Maju Expressway Extension (MEX II) project involved professionals—including auditors, financial experts, and engineers—and multiple companies to disguise the money trail.MACC Chief Commissioner Azam Baki revealed that a prominent corporate figure with a “Tan Sri” title, believed to be at the center of the scandal, has yet to be questioned as he is currently hospitalized. Investigators have obtained a medical assessment to determine when he can be interviewed.Meanwhile, 45 individuals who had previously given statements have been recalled for further questioning. The MACC is also tracing luxury cars and properties owned by the Tan Sri in London and Switzerland.
