The UN Security Council will vote Wednesday on a resolution demanding an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and unrestricted humanitarian aid access. The resolution, backed by 10 elected members, also calls for the release of all hostages. However, it is expected to fail due to a likely US veto, as the US remains a staunch Israeli ally. This follows growing international pressure on Israel over its Gaza offensive and aid restrictions. Palestinian UN envoy Riyad Mansour urged action, warning history will judge the Council’s response.
