BANGKOK — Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to reposition troops at a disputed border area following a deadly clash in May that killed a Cambodian soldier near the Emerald Triangle.

The two countries met and decided to reduce military presence at conflict points to ease tensions. Thai PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra and Cambodian officials confirmed the move, with further talks set for June 14.

Cambodia’s former PM Hun Sen emphasized peaceful force adjustment to avoid further violence. Meanwhile, Cambodia plans to bring the border issue back to the International Court of Justice, though Thailand contests its jurisdiction.
