PAPAR — A 42-year-old man died after being electrocuted while trying to pluck mangoes in Kampung Bambangan.
According to Papar Fire and Rescue Chief Rozlan Osman, the victim had used a metal rod to reach the fruit, which accidentally touched a live wire. He lost consciousness and was found stuck in the tree.
Firefighters arrived within minutes of the 3:01 pm emergency call. After Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd cut the power, the man was safely lowered using a ladder and rescue rope. A medical officer later confirmed his death at the scene. The operation ended at 4:29 pm.
