MELAKA — A Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) staff member was fined RM10,000 by the Sessions Court after admitting to posting an offensive message on the social media platform X in October 2023.

Adi Ariff Ahmad, 51, posted the content via the account “Senatorrr Antonio Samad,” intending to annoy others. The court, presided over by Judge Haderiah Siri, ruled that failure to pay the fine would result in six months' jail time.

The offence falls under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. In his mitigation, the unrepresented Adi pleaded for leniency, citing financial responsibilities for his ailing mother and four school-going children.

Prosecution was led by MCMC’s Nazrul Nizam Mohd Zameri.
