KUALA LUMPUR — Muhammad Yusoff Rawther, recently acquitted of drug and weapon charges, has given the Inspector-General of Police seven days to respond to his claim of being framed, warning of legal action if ignored.

His legal team, via Rafique Rashid Ali, demanded updates on a September 2024 police report that named individuals allegedly involved in the setup. Despite raising the issue during detention, police reportedly failed to act.

Yusoff spent nine months in remand before the High Court ruled there was no credible evidence and dismissed the case. The judge also criticised investigating officers for not verifying Yusoff’s framing claim, which had harmed his defence.

The request for investigation updates was first made in November 2024.
