To meet growing space demands and house government departments, the Tamil Nadu government is set to lease 1.41 acres of land in Delhi.

Currently, Tamil Nadu operates guest houses and department offices on 1.75 acres in Chanakyapuri and 1.96 acres on Thakendrijit Marg. As renovation of Vaigai Illam begins at a cost of ₹257 crore, several offices have been temporarily shifted to an MTNL building in Bhikaji Cama Place, under a two-year rental deal worth ₹1.44 crore for a 2,400 sq ft space.

Due to limited space and rising future needs, the government plans to build new offices and residential quarters for staff in Delhi.
