A London-bound flight from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport crashed shortly after takeoff on June 12, hitting the BJ Medical College hostel. The fiery crash claimed 270 lives, including all 241 passengers, 5 MBBS students, and 24 civilians. Only one passenger, Vishwas Kumar, survived.Many bodies were charred beyond recognition, prompting authorities to conduct DNA tests for identification. Families of the victims, who arrived soon after the crash, have provided blood samples but continue to wait as the testing takes time. Some are still unable to perform last rites due to the delay. As of yesterday evening, 119 bodies were identified, and 76 handed over to relatives. Dr. Rakesh Joshi of Civil Hospital assured grieving families that the remaining bodies would be released as soon as possible.
