The Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a civil servant and a government pensioner, both in their 50s and 60s, over a RM66,000 bribery case involving land applications and census work.
The duo were arrested at the MACC office after giving their statements. Although they lacked authority to approve applications or conduct the census, they allegedly accepted bribes in 2016 — RM54,000 by one and RM12,000 by the other — to process applications under a state scheme.
Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrests, with investigations ongoing under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
