Perak police confirmed no injuries or property damage after a loud boom and tremors were felt in parts of Ipoh yesterday.

State police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said investigations are ongoing to identify the source of the explosion-like sound and urged the public not to speculate.

Preliminary checks found no illegal quarry activity or man-made causes, with geologists suggesting it may be a natural occurrence.

The tremor, reported around 10:30am in areas like Chemor and Tanah Hitam, mirrors similar unexplained incidents in previous years, now appearing more frequently than the expected once-in-a-decade cycle.

Authorities, including JMG, quarry operators, and the General Operations Force, will meet soon to further examine the case.

Despite the mystery, police assure the situation is under control and ask residents to remain calm.
