TEHRAN — Iran has appointed Brigadier General Majid Khadami as the new head of intelligence for the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), following the death of his predecessor, Mohammed Kazemi, in an Israeli airstrike last week.
Kazemi was killed alongside two other IRGC officers during Israel’s ongoing strikes on Iranian military and nuclear targets. The IRGC’s new commander, Major General Mohammad Pakpour — who replaced Hossein Salami after his death in a similar strike — praised the late commanders for advancing IRGC intelligence operations.
The escalating conflict has seen Iran retaliate by targeting Israeli facilities, including a hospital, while Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s appointees warn of severe responses to further attacks.
