KUALA LUMPUR — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has extended condolences to Opposition Leader Hamzah Zainudin following the death of his mother-in-law, Datin Salmiah Nyak Matt, 84, who perished in a house fire in Ipoh last night.
In a Facebook post, Anwar prayed for strength for Hamzah’s family and that Salmiah be granted a place in Jannah.
The fire broke out around 9pm at their home in Kampung Sungai Rapat Tambahan. Salmiah’s husband, Datuk Abdul Ghani Ngah, 83, was rescued with breathing difficulties and sent to hospital. Four other family members escaped unharmed.
