JOHOR BAHRU — A Johor trader in his 40s lost RM1.1 million to an online job scam that promised commissions for buying and reselling goods.
Johor police chief Datuk M. Kumar said the victim was lured by a job offer on social media on March 26, which promised a 25% commission. Believing the offer, he transferred money to 22 bank accounts between March 28 and June 13.
The scam became apparent when no commissions were received. The case is now under investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
