ISLAMABAD — At least 45 people have died in Pakistan due to flash floods and heavy monsoon rains over the past few days, officials said.
The worst-hit area is Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 21 people — including 10 children — lost their lives, with 14 deaths in Swat Valley alone as floods swept away families.
In Punjab province, 13 people died since Wednesday, including eight children in wall and roof collapses, while adults were caught in flash floods.
Another 11 deaths were reported in Sindh and Balochistan.
The national weather service warns that heavy rain and flood risks will persist until Saturday. Pakistan, highly vulnerable to climate change, continues to face increasingly frequent extreme weather events.
