WASHINGTON — Hackers linked to Iran have threatened to release more emails allegedly stolen from people close to former U.S. President Donald Trump, following a previous leak during the 2024 election.

Identifying as “Robert,” the hackers claimed to possess 100GB of emails from Trump allies including Susie Wiles, Lindsey Halligan, Roger Stone, and Stormy Daniels. They hinted at selling the data but gave no details about the contents.

The White House and FBI condemned the breach, with Attorney General Pam Bondi calling it “unconscionable.” The FBI vowed a full investigation, while cybersecurity agency CISA labelled the attack “digital propaganda” meant to damage Trump’s image.

The leaked emails reportedly included Trump campaign discussions and legal matters involving Daniels and RFK Jr., but did not alter the 2024 election outcome, which Trump won.

The U.S. Justice Department previously linked the operation to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, a claim the hackers declined to address. After going silent, “Robert” resurfaced following the recent Israel-Iran conflict, now claiming plans to sell the emails.

Experts suggest the leaks may be part of Iran’s low-risk retaliation strategy after U.S. airstrikes. U.S. cyber officials warned of potential threats to critical infrastructure amid ongoing tensions.
