Jyothika recently revealed that after marrying actor Suriya, Bollywood stopped offering her roles, assuming she had shifted fully to South Indian cinema. Although she began her career in Bollywood with Doli Saja Ke Rakhna, it was director S.J. Suryah who introduced her to Tamil cinema through Vaali with Ajith. After that, she primarily worked in the South.

Jyothika returned to Bollywood after 26 years with Shaitaan starring Ajay Devgn and followed it up with Srikanth alongside Rajkummar Rao, and the web series Dabba Cartel. She’s currently working on another Hindi film.

She shared that marrying Suriya and settling in Chennai led many in the Hindi industry to wrongly assume she wouldn't act in Bollywood anymore. Jyothika clarified that she never intended to stop acting in Hindi films and feels grateful for her Bollywood beginnings. She expressed that for many years, no one in Bollywood gave her a chance.

Jyothika admitted she felt nervous on her first few days back on a Hindi film set, even pinching herself to confirm it wasn’t just a dream.

Her last Tamil film release was Udanpirappe in 2021. Although she hasn’t acted in Tamil films for over three years, she continues to produce films with Suriya, including the recent retro-style film directed by Karthik Subbaraj.

Recently, the couple vacationed abroad, sharing joyful moments on Instagram, which fans praised as “couple goals.” Despite being married for 19 years, their bond remains strong, and Suriya’s affectionate public gestures continue to charm fans.

Their love story, which began on the sets of several films, faced initial resistance from family but eventually led to a happy marriage.

When rumors of separation and Jyothika moving to Mumbai with their children surfaced, she clarified that it was to focus on Bollywood and spend time with her parents. Suriya also supported her decision, explaining that she missed her family as she had lived in Chennai since a young age.
