Vels Films, led by Ishari Ganesh, is now making a massive ₹1000 crore investment to produce films, aiming to position itself alongside industry giants like Sun Pictures and Lyca Productions. The company is stepping up by bringing in large sets, top stars, leading directors, and advanced VFX technology.
Initially producing films with budgets around ₹200–300 crore, Vels is now planning projects ranging from ₹1000 to ₹2000 crore. A key reason for this bold move is the strong demand from major OTT platforms like Amazon Prime and Netflix, which are willing to pay high prices for big-budget films.
Vels Films isn't just producing films — they’re also involved in distribution and digital rights. As a publicly listed company on the national stock exchange, they are raising capital from the public. This structure means they must deliver returns to shareholders, making consistent success and profits essential.
The company’s presence in the stock market enables large-scale investments, helping Vels emerge as one of the most trusted production houses in Tamil cinema.
Currently, Vels is working with top directors such as Sundar C, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Vetrimaaran, and Mari Selvaraj, along with leading stars like Nayanthara, Dhanush, Arya, and Jayam Ravi.
