KUALA LUMPUR — Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has assured that most university students won’t face higher electricity bills following the recent tariff review, as they fall under the over 23 million domestic consumers unaffected by the hike.
TNB said students renting typical homes or living in campus colleges won’t see an increase, depending on usage. To help reduce costs, students can save by using appliances during off-peak hours under the Time of Use (ToU) scheme.
Public and private education institutions, welfare homes, and houses of worship also enjoy a 10% rebate to ease operational costs. Students from B40 families may benefit from the RM40 monthly rebate under the e-Kasih programme.
TNB has also introduced incentives for households consuming under 1,000 kWh monthly, encouraging energy efficiency while supporting sustainability goals.
TNB reiterated its commitment to protecting students’ welfare while promoting responsible energy use. More details are available at www.mytnb.com.my/tariff or via TNB CareLine at 1-300-88-5454.
